Lindsay has been a Presbyterian Minister for 30 years, first of all serving as an Assistant Minister in Ballygowan, Co Down, then ministering in Clogher and Glenhoy Churches in South Tyrone for 7 years and then in Faughanvale Presbyterian Church, Eglinton, near Derry/L’derry for the past 20 years. It was on coming to the North-West that he first became involved in Hospital Chaplaincy, initially being introduced to it through his predecessor Rev Jim Gray.
Lindsay’s first Chaplaincy position was in Mental Health on the Gransha site, and then in due course he also came to work at Altnagelvin Area Hospital. He particularly enjoys the buzz of the hospitals, speaking to people and showing compassion to those in need, whether patients, families or staff. In his new role, Lindsay is looking forward to getting to know the whole Trust Chaplaincy Team better, seeking to support them, as they all in turn support patients, families and staff across the large Western Trust catchment area.
Lindsay is married to Amanda who is a retired Western Trust Nurse and they have two grown up children and a 16month old grandson who is the apple of their eyes. Lindsay enjoys walking, listening to classical music, researching his family tree and going on holidays.
Lindsay has been a member of the NIHCA for the past 14 years and has enjoyed all the wisdom, friendship and support that has been shared there. He is now privileged to be invited onto the Executive Council and trusts that he may be able to make a helpful contribution there.
