Ken is the Methodist Representative on the NIHCA Executive. He is married to Ruth and they have two grown up children Janette and John. Ken entered ministry in 2012 as a Probationary Minister (following a 33-year career in Northern Ireland Electricity) and was ordained in 2014.
Ken has been working in Healthcare Chaplaincy since 2013 and currently work part-time as the Combined Chaplain in the Lagan Valley Hospital (South Eastern Trust). He is currently the Minister in Creagh Methodist Church (Belfast) and prior to this served in Dundrum, Newcastle, and Downpatrick.
Ken feels it is privilege to be able to be part of the team caring for patients, staff, and their families. Ken feels that as a Chaplain we have the precious commodity of time, to have the opportunity to offer spiritual care or just have that welcomed non-medical conversation,
Ken has also had the opportunity to attend the training for Community Chaplaincy Listening with NHS Education for Scotland and is keen to see how this can be used to enhance Chaplaincy.
Ken is looking forward to serving on the Executive as it continues to look at new ways of supporting, equipping, and training Chaplains.
